From raising her kids to helping Toni Boucher win a state senatorial seat, Mary Arbisi takes hard work in stride. Now she's hoping her strong work ethic will help her become Wilton's Republican Registrar of Voters.
"I am very hardworking in everything I have ever done, and I never give up," Arbisi said.
This has not gone unnoticed by the Wilton Republican Town Committee, which endorsed Arbisi by a nearly 80 percent margin back in May. Wilton RTC Chairman Al Alper is impressed with how Arbisi has tried to learn the responsibilities of the position on her own time.
"She has put forth an unbelievable effort, which is characteristic not just of her but of volunteers in general," Alper said.
Arbisi said if elected she will do more to help the GOP by doing such things as keeping voters informed and going to the high school to register students. She said current Republican registrar Tina Gardner has done neither.
Though Arbisi won the party's endorsement, she faces an August 10 primary challenge from Gardner. Contacted by The Daily Wilton about this article, Gardner refused to comment.
