Name? Gail Lavielle
Age? No comment.
Occupation?
I am an Advertising and Media university instructor at UConn since September of 2008. I am a former Senior Executive in finance marketing and communications for 25 years. When I stopped working I wanted to share what I had learned in my professional life with people just starting out and that is why I chose to teach. I am a PhD candidate.
I am also currently running for State Representative. What motivated me to go into politics is that I am very concerned about Connecticut's future. So many people feel like they have no future here because they can't afford it. We need to change the way state government works and stop the uncontrolled spending and bring more common sense to the process, that way we will be able to invest in education and above all jobs. If they don't have jobs they will go, and they already are going, and I don't want to see them go.
How long have you lived in Wilton?
We moved here in 2002 from Paris, France. We lived there for 14 years. My husband is French. I met him at the Eiffel Tower at a cocktail party in 1985. We have been married for 25 years.
Where is your favorite hangout in Wilton?
My favorite place is Cannondale- the whole village. I love the Wilton Historical Society, and the library, and Orem's Diner. What I like best about Wilton is the level of conversation here.
Why Wilton?
Because this is home. We left and we came back. We could have gone to Ridgefield, Darien, New Cannan, or anywhere else but we came to Wilton because this is home. I can't imagine living anywhere else. We lived in New York City for three years and Paris for 14. After that we chose a community. We love the concern everyone has here. Residents are so smart and well-informed and we wanted to be a part of this community. We can't imagine going anywhere else.
Gail Lavielle is a candidate for state representative, 143rd Assembly District (Wilton and Norwalk).
