This is an especially exciting election year for Wilton. Following our last district nominating conventions, Wilton now has the opportunity, for the first time in 40 years, to elect two of its residents to represent our Town in Hartford, and the first time that that same representation will be occupied by two women. Toni Boucher, one of Wilton’s two Representatives in the Connecticut House for the last 12 years, was unanimously nominated to run for election as State Senator for the 26th District. Susan Bruschi, Wilton’s Second Selectman, was nominated to run for Toni’s current seat as the 143rd District’s State Rep.
Two other Republicans were also nominated to run for office as representatives of Wilton’s congressional and state districts: State Representative John Hetherington, who is running unopposed for his fourth term in the State House of Representatives, and U.S. Representative Christopher Shays, who is running for his twelfth term in Congress.
We are fortunate to have four Republican candidates with long and distinguished records of getting results in elected positions. With the conventions behind us, the Wilton Republican Town Committee is now focused on building the local support our candidates need to win. The RTC will have a full agenda of activities, including fundraising events for the candidates, public forums on key issues like health care, energy, and transportation, and campaign activities like door-to-door canvassing, writing letters to editors, and scouting out sites for lawn signs. Stay tuned for a full calendar of events.
Meanwhile, now is a great time to get involved. To volunteer or learn more about what you can do to support our candidates, contact any of these Wilton residents:
